Marti Wade (Smith)
Marti Smith spent 12 years as a research coordinator for the ministry of Caleb Project in Littleton, Colorado. She helped train and send short-term teams to do ethnographic research to support church planting among those with little opportunity to hear the gospel.
Marti joined the mission agency Pioneers as part of their communications team She also edits speaks and writes on a variety of topics. She has been the managing editor and publisher of Missions Catalyst since 2004 and edits newsletters and articles for AskAMissionary.com and ShortTermMissions.com.
Shortly after 9/11 Marti spent a sabbatical year in a conservative Muslim part of Central Asia experiencing the life of a long-term worker and documenting the experiences of church planters. Marti teaches cultural learning principles and techniques for local churches, short-term teams, and mission agency groups.
After many years in Colorado, Marti moved to Eugene, Oregon and married Chris Wade in 2012. The two currently live in Columbia, South Carolina, where in 2016 Marti completed a Master’s in Intercultural Studies at Columbia International University.
